Whenever these caliper threads come up, I seem to be the only person in the world to be so lucky. I have 3 pair and they all work perfectly. Even the cheapos from Northern tools or wherever.

I don't dare drop the Starrett dial calipers I have. My wife would beat me to death with'em.
She bought'em for me, about 20 yrs ago........

Re: Have you dropped your caliper?
Main caliper here is a Chicom RCBS dial.
But I still have my genuine Swiss made high strength polymer $4 Sears & Roebuck vernier from about 40 years ago. And still pick it up for quick rough measurements.
I had a Frankford (Midway) digital that was convenient except that the battery life was short. I got them to replace it with a dial which I hold in reserve to my RCBS.
For the picky stuff, I have a tenths Starrett mike I got in a pawn shop for $40.

I was a machinist for 20 years trust me Browne and Sharpe Starrett and Mitutoyo are the best. Don't go cheap on precision instruments. Buy quality they wear in buy cheap they wear out.

Re: Have you dropped your caliper?
Starrett 120 series calipers aren't the only thing they sell. Starrett, 6 in dial caliper part number 61467 3202-6. Made in China. So only partly wrong. Starrett opened a factory in Suzhou, China in 1998.
