Bluegrass Steel Challenge
The 4-day "Bluegrass Steel Challenge" kicked off with a 60-shot .22BPCR match. In a rather embarrassing turn of events, the match director, Ian Egbert cleaned the field with a 49 (good shooting, Ian). In an effort to mollify the crowd, Ian has volunteered to cook for the match dinner, so things settled down. 1st day of big-bore starts today.

Re: Bluegrass Steel Challenge
Well........ day-2 is in the books and Ian keeps beating up on the kind folks who are nice enough to go to his matches. If he keeps this up he'll be shooting alone. Guess he has figured out loading 2F Swiss behind those PP bullets, shooting a 32. His cooking better be good.
Congrats to Ian, followed by WillieP's 31 and DutchG's 29 for scope. Not sure about irons.

Here are the score-boards for the 22BPCR match & Day-1 big-bore, which will correct a couple of errors on who did what from yesterday.

Re: Bluegrass Steel Challenge
As shown, irons winners are IanE, SteveB & JimR (and his mighty 45-100), while WillieP, DutchG & TimG topped the scope shooters. Congrats to the winners and good luck to all shooters on day-2. Being a mid-week match, number of shooters reflect the fact that there are significant number of working-age (not us old farts) that participate at the weekend matches, which is a good thing for the future of our sport.

Not many matches you will attend where the match director cooks your dinner (ribs, pulled port & potato salad). Ian's ribs are about as good as it gets.

This mid-week matches tend to bring out the best in people. The one on the left was made out behind someone's garage. "Traditional" KY.
Wonder what tomorrow's scores will be like?

As you can see........... the shooting is only part of the reason to attend one of Ian's matches.

Tell you what, Ian has done one hell of a job putting this on. It's a shame not more folks are here. The competitor list reads like a who's who of top shooters in the East. Too damned hot here. Tomorrow is forecast to be cooler.

Re: Bluegrass Steel Challenge
Thanks for posting. I want to add some clarification to what the score board says. We don’t have a 3 day score board so we erased the day 2 side and filled it in with the day 3 side.
It’s also worth noting that Jim R shot 3/4s of today’s match with a broken firing pin. Him and I were neck and neck going into the event today. He was actually my spotter for the big bore. We started on rams today and he didn’t realize that it was broken until we finished up on pigs and then he replaced it with a new one. Is it me or does it seem like this kind of stuff happens at the worst possible time?

Re: Bluegrass Steel Challenge
There is a reflection in that picture. Couple that with my handwriting and it’s easy to make a mistake. Steve had the highest single day score of the entire weekend and he was also the only person all weekend to clean the sticks.
