2025 Buffalo

Post by Wyo »

Took this guy on Feb. 1, 2025 near Savageton, WY. 50/90 Sharps with a 515 grain RCBS flat point, greased bullet. Worked just as well as it did 150 years ago.

Congratulations, how far did you shoot? A single shot? For sure that hunt is in my bucket list. Private property?

He was dead with one shot from about 75 yds. Yes, the hunt was on private property.

Not that far from me, I used to pump wells down around there. The owner of the old savageten bar, now passed, was a good friend of our family back when he leased land next to our ranch.

Good eats, congratulations.

Good job. Nice buffalo. I took mine with a Shiloh 50-90 as well. Good choice for buffalo.

What alloy did you use? Did you recover the bullet? Tom

Bullet was from BACO and was, I believe, 1:20. It wasn’t recovered. I’d say it went through about four feet of buffalo. For all I know it’s still going! Those things are really tough to stop.
