last bowhunt

Post by jerryl »

I got a call a few weeks ago from a friend that I knew in the Marines. He said that he had cancer and was probably not going to make it much longer and wanted to come out to elk hunt with his bow. We had a bloody hoot over the Labor Day weekend. We hunted from Saturday morning until Wednesday night. We bugled in 9 different bulls. My friend couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Even if he was on the inside. So needless to say we didn't get an elk But we did laugh our asses off and we drank a lot of beer and caught a few fish and saw alot of country on the 4 wheelers, harrassed the waiteress at the cafes, shot at some coyotes. I couldn't think of a better way to say goodbye

I have a buddy that is in Colorado right now. Setting on his Rock.

Although his ashes are scattered, he is engrained deeply in my heart and soul.

Happy Hunting Mike.
