Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
And here I mistakenly assumed SEMTAV only perforated uprights? Nice rifle.
Much lead in barrel may indicate that the groups will demonstrate a growing problem. Not necessarily vertical stringing.
If they do grow the more you shoot and the more lead the bore retains it may be a fouling control problem.
Now, if he had only fired a ten shot group we could tell more about it.
Kurt may be on to something though.
An then, of course, on occasion there are situations that are just beyond help.

I am an equal opportunity shooter, although its pretty obvious why I prefer uprights !!

Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
definitely something I have to look into, although I had shot 7 shots before I put the one in the center (#1) . Why it started 3 shots later I have no clue.

Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
Mine used to do the exactly the same thing and shoot two tight groups 2-3" apart.
If I wouldn't have to shoot against you in competition I would tell you how I fixed my problem

Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
Not the best outcome. The conditions at the line were perfect, but at the target I had enough wind that I had to pay attention. Obviously, I didn't do a good enough job.

Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
Brian, my issue is finding a consistent, yet comfortable, position shooting off the bench, especially for a 10-shot string. I’m hoping that next season I’ll be able to start shooting from the prone position.
I also wonder how much variability non-uniformly wrapped patches cause on the target, both height-wise and in edge-matching. I need to do some sorting and experimenting and improve quality control.

Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
Hello,
Attached is a five-shot 200-yard group. I was uncertain if this was a group or string measure match so I have included both. When I get to the range again I will attempt a 10 shot group. I hope the picture quality is ok. I resized the photo multiple times. The 38 caliber holes must be too large?
Cheers

Re: OFFICIAL 2021 FALL POSTAL THREAD
There's always room for an excuse or two!
Not the best day to shoot groups, gusty 12 to 15 mph left to right wind, but I haven’t had much time for shooting lately and it was fun to be shooting and playing with the wind.
Every once in awhile it would switch to come from 2 o’clock and that caught me once on shot #9. Except for that one shot the rest held less than 1 ½” vertical.
This was my first shots with bullets from a new mold I had Steve Brooks make and I just received last Wednesday. It’s an adjustable nose pour mold and I set it to the maximum length, 1.445” and cast these first bullets on Saturday. Today I just pulled the bullets from some loads left over from matches this past summer and seated these in their place. No load development for these. They didn’t shoot too bad and with less wind would probably group near 1 MOA. Now for some load development!
1 - .635
2 - 1.155
3 - .895
4 - 1.860
5 - 1.760
6 - 1.335
7 - .210
8 - 1.340
9 - 1.960
10 - .930

Jim, without anything to compare size wise, that looks just like a 32 special cartridge !!
