Scott, that was good!!

BTW,I'm also one of those insecure fellas that has to carry extra ammo into the feild with me. I have a old leather belt pouch that holds eight rounds with a leather flap to protect the shells.

It's better to have and not need then to need and not have!

Yes, it is. And I found earlier this week that will easily hold 8 or even 12 .38-55 bullets in that breast pocket. Works really well for me.

Scott,
that's nice....basically what I sewed to the inside of my leather "Wallet" or cartridge box. Canvas keeps from corroding brass, which as you know happens when cartridges are kept in leather loops................troopers discovered that in the early seventies as they had company saddlers make leather cartidge belts from their garrison belts! Army soon saw advantage of cartidge belt over box and began making canvas belts. "Mills" belt probably the most famous.

This little slide is nice because it can be worn on the belt or slipped into a pocket. Not as bulky or heavy as a full belt of ammo, but it holds enough to get through a typical day of hunting.

I always pack lots of ammo.
Up here if you get lost it can turn into a survival situation right quick.
A half hour drive any direction but east and its a mountainous wilderness, a few extra rounds can be the difference between eating a grouse, or not eating at all.
Only a fool would go hunting up here with one bullet and no survival gear.
I pack some in a little pack with a bore snake, fire starter and other survival stuff.
When I'm hunting I use this rig as well, good to up to a 45-110.

online somewhere, has a belt mount kind of fanny pack thing, maybe six by six by three or so, several little compartments, well made out of 1,200 denier (or is that dernier) nylon, works great for several rounds, plus spare pockets for odds and ends, and a neat little flashlight holder for your surefire....maybe twenty bucks...don't have an item number, but their online catalog is worth looking through-nice practical stuff. i use mine to carry a 2" .357 when walking the dog, now that minnesota finally allows concealed carry.

FNG.
I have one of those rigs as well.
They have enough room for 5 cartridge and I put a Swiss army knife a bore snake, flashlight and a magnesium fire starter in there..
