I always wipe between shots.
I am using baco wipers and m-pro-7.
Done my homework, gotta pass the test now.
My rifles don't buy all the hype of m=pro=7 , but do like Napa cutting oil and water mixed 1-7. I've also found that some of them get fairly picky about how wet the felts are.

Alright.
Day of realignment.
Poured 20 .450 ballard bullets in 1-20.
They came out at .449 . Normal shrinkage.
Bullets cast at 1.376 length .
Figured out quickly my old paper patch guide would be short. Made a new one .
Tight 2 wraps wet.
Dried to .456 with micrometer.
Seated in an opened cartridge in the rifle.
Got it in and I had to thumb push the last 1/4" of the cartridge into the rifle.
When pushed it in to the rifle, I needed to gentle nudge the bullet out with a wooden rod. It caugh the bullet in the grooves. Could see light groove marks on the paper.
Seats about .557 in the cartridge, I get .823 and change out in the freebore/ barrel.
Paper wraps up .90 on bullet and I have a .20 wrapping under to just about meet in the concave base.
It is finger snug in a cartridge opened up to .458 with a straight die ( no bell).

I am probably over thinking it, but that sound about right ?

That should get you a sub 2" group at 100 yds.
If not then you need to figure out why.
You?
Gun?
Load?

You may also want to pick up the PP after the bullet is fired. That is the next best thing to finding a fired projectile.

Keep on hav'n fun!

Me? Marc McConnell Houston Texas.
Gun? Pedersoli rolling block 45-90. 32" John bodine .
Load? Working on it now. Around 70-80 grains of goex 2F, .060 fiber wad and a .050 bees wax lube.

Haha.
Took me a bit to figure that out.

What I meant was if you can't get sub 2" groups you are gonna have to figure out if it's you, the gun, or the load.

Let us know how it groups!

are you sizing your brass after shooting? patching to bore you shouldnt need to do so.

With the .443 bullet, you will need to neck size. Fill your case with powder so you have about .070-.080 room left in the case. put a .060 wad on and compress that so you have about .090-.100 room in the case. Seat the bullet and taper crimp enough so the bullet doesnt fall out, you should be able to pull it out and put it back in if need be.

The patching to bore was not giving me very accurate results.
I am trying patching to groove.
See how it goes.

For starters, lose the lube cookie. If you wipe between shots, it's not needed. And that concave base, beware. If it's anything but shallow, wads could stick into it, ruining accuracy.

All good info.
I was shooting the bore size pp at 80 grains of 2F
Goex.

Using a heavy paper can cause headaches.
As Martini mention the hollow base/cup based moulds can also be problematic as the bases don't always fill out evenly, or can grab and keep any wads. Drop the grease cookie, wipe between shots with a Napa cutting oil and water solution of around 1-7.
Anther thing to think about is having a flat base plug made.

I can machine the base flat.
That will be easy.
