Deer season opens on Saturday here in sunny north Florida and I will be in the woods armed with my Saddle Rifle. Hopefully I will have a good story and pics to follow. I just have to decide whether I want to shoot the paper patch or the greasers now.

Too funny! I don't know how many times I have wanted to ask someone why they would "shoot" a gun when someone asks one of those "Have you ever shot _______?"

If you get one, bring a sharp knife. Florida is kind of warm this time of year. :lol: :lol: :wink: ...........................................Jim

Yep, you can't leave overnight this time of year. We try to field dress them and get them to the cooler ASAP

About 100 yards slightly quartering away, she dropped immediately. There was another doe that was about 10 feet away from her when I shot her that did not even flinch. She just stared at her on the ground and stomped her feet trying to get her to move. She went back to feeding like nothing happened for the next 30 minutes before finally mosying on off.

Those whitetail deer are sure pretty compared to the western mulies that I'm used to. What stands out to me in the picture is the front sight. Looks like it really stands out in what I would say is a wooded area.

Congratulations!

Congratulations pacecars. It's good to see a Sharps deer.

Marathonman;
Gotta disagree. Mule deer are bigger, prettier and more regal, especially the bucks. :)
