25 below this morning at my house in western Mt, we're lucky and don't get the wind up here in the mountains.

a friend about a mile from me lives next to the Clearwater River just south of Seeley Lake. His old fashion thermometer read -40 this morning. The Seeley Lake weather app on my phone read a balmy -30 is all.

The cold front has finally reached central Texas. The temp was in the 50's this morning. By noon it was 40 & rapidly dropping. It's forecasted to get down to 14 tonight.

24 below ambient temp with strong wind makes for better than 50 below wind chill. It is brutal. So far we are faring ok.

42F here in Hoosier land at present. 1524 hrs. The front is expected in about an hour. I've got six days of wood in the garage, and 15 gals of gas for the generator. We are buttoned up and awaiting the inevitable. Time to crack the JD bottle and relax.

It has warmed all the way up to -10 with the wind setting down to around 4 mph.
Which is quite the improvement from where we started out this morning with -20 winds at 20 with gusts going as high as 40

Careful on the slick roads, all. Rain until the temps start falling early Sat a.m. and into the cold (not sub-zero, but single-digits). Brrrrr........
Have a Merry (& safe) Xmas.

Even over here in little old Spokane I was shooting trap preparing for winter league and it was -9 degrees. Shot on the 200 yard range yesterday working on a load for this spring. Same temp and almost two feet of snow. That is a lot of snow for us this early in the winter season. Don't know what the wind chill was with about a 5 mph wind but it was cold.

Has been -40 at sunrise the last few days in St. Albert, Alberta.

The coldest I have ever seen in Northern Alberta is -60.

In the 1970s it was -40 for six weeks straight in Edmonton, Alberta.

Thankfully for climate warming we rarely get colder than -30 now.

It is currently right about freezing in the Top of Virginia but it is forecast to drop into the single digits tomorrow and stay cold for several days. The coldest I've ever seen it here was -19 but the coldest I've ever experienced was the winter of '67 at Great Lakes Naval Training center. I think it got down to -30 one time.
