Semtav: where did you get the hat??

Nice looking Remington System (AKA rolling block) with a side lever. Always wanted Higginbotham of Lone Star to build me a side lever, but never got around to it before he passed on. Is the rifle a Lone Star, on import altered to a side lever, or a rebuilt original rifle?

Kurt nice looking target!

Ray,
That rifle has been a problem child since day one. I havent spent much time with it since I had it build. Some times it shoots a very tight 10-15 shot groups and it also has a problem keeping that many on a sheet of paper at 200.
I been working on the brass because this rifle seems to be very selective with cases being uniform.

You know folks, apparently it is incumbent upon me to point out salient characteristics of SEMTAV's representations and postings which are so telling upon observing them in living color.

Take for instance, his quest for the largest group @ 8.250 in spite of his best efforts was effortlessly topped by Mike Herth @ 8.625. AND, he didn't even try any of those PP bullets in his ammo box to see if he could break Herth's 8.625 record.

BUT, now pay close attention shooting fans, we may have a limiting psychological condition that is dampening his group size. The Cartridge a 40-50 Sharps Bottleneck, a light gg bullet probably around 360 grains lackadaisically urged from the rifle by 50 grains of powder and an UGLY BUTT recoil pad on the rifle. Does it suggest that perhaps that a latent fear of recoil may be a factor in group size?

Put succinctly, there is something wrong with these pictures.

Hmmmmmm ????? I'm starting to be thankful I don't have to suffer thru that heat year after year.

I think its finally taking effect on someones brain cells.

First he claims he's "hanging " with Woody when Woody has actually entered and shot this match and DD in 4 years has .....well....... hes entered the jawing part of the contest. (which he does seem to be winning !!)

So, you are imposing on other shooters for your projectiles are you? Well, those targets should be disqualified if you did not cast the bullets.

You going to hang with Woody and I you gotta do better than that.

Then he makes some reference to an ugly buttpad when anyone that can see past their keyboard can tell, there was no buttpad on my rifle.

Perhaps the lack of vision is why he has yet to enter said contest.

And I did come to my senses DD

And DD, just so you don't confuse the two sometime in the future,
the cartridge on the left goes in my "parlor" gun and the cartridge on the right goes in my "match" rifle.

MIke
Are you loading the bullets so the large dia just touches the rifling, or backed off so they are easier to load. If so, how far off.

Problem I see with a Rolling block, is the inability to cam a shell in a touch with a Patched to Groove or DD bullet.

Not intending to pick on such an easy target as SEMTAV, However, all, and do mean all, commentary offered in his direction is to help others, by example, find that first rung on the ladder that will take them onward and upward to BPTR nirvana, rather than obscure that path.

As for submitting targets shot in 70 degree F, light to no wind conditions, seems unfair to the other posters. I mean the term Ice Age to me, here, is incomprehensible.

As for SEMTAV's implication about me posting targets, an admonition. Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it.

If I can find a large enough target I may send you one of my paper patch targets. Then Mike Herth's 8.6 target will be in jeopardy.
