Lodi match in pictures
I'm not going to get too carried away here but life is once again good, and if you ain't here, well you blew it this time. Tomorrow will be the first day of a 15 shots/relay, 3 relays/day, 2-day match all at 1000 yds. Gonna be great!. You should be here.
Eat your heart out.

I think I would sooner sit there than at the range

High probability I should be able to get out to the shoot they have earlier in the year. Creedmoor cup? Is that it? I have a skirmish this weekend and we are breaking in a new guy so I couldn’t miss it.

Well no picts to post. Phone crapped put and the sky fell down. We all got in 45 shots for record, but it was darn gloomy. The last relay enjoyed getting their showers in before leaving the range. Shoulda brought soap. Mighty wet. Tomorrow looks to be wetter.
Capped off the evening with prime rib on the deck next to the lake. Perfect.

I was wondering how it was going up there. The sky has opened here and we been getting heavy rain that make the corn fields that were cut for silage look like lakes and more on its way.

Re: Lodi match in pictures
Just checked the weather for Lodi today.
100% T Storms all day.
Might be tough to get all 3 relays thru today.
Looks like maybe those 45 shots yesterday might just be the whole match.

As said, I figured what with the 100% T Storms predicted and with everyone on the line holding a
"lightning rod"
"been there, done that" a good number of times to have a one day match of it at Lodi\
due to weather.
Bummer.

Re: Lodi match in pictures
The rain cancelation worked out well for Brent. Thanks to two very good spotters he had the lead at the end of the day Saturday and the rest of us could not mount a challenge on Sunday due to the pouring rain, and I mean pouring! Good to see Brent claim the honors once again, it's been a while for him.
I have to say spotting in that last relay was a lot of guessing based on almost no input. By half way thru the relay the flags were so wet they just hung there like drown rats, there was no mirage and the line spinners never really helped out all day. I kind of just went with my gut feeling. It felt good to help a friend get over a long dry spell (pun intended).
I did notice that the stand of tall pines (at about 40 ft.) on the right side about the 600 or so yard line would every once in awhile just go nuts, bending over more than a few feet. At the same time the flags showed little or no change at 25 feet high! If you think you’re watch the wind your bullet is going through while you’re watching the flags you are kidding yourself!
The top scores were as follows:
Brent Danielson 367-3X
Bob Walline 357-5X
Jim Kluskens 357-3X
Sam Thompson 352-1X
Mark Schuenke 347-1X
Steve Farringer 345
Yes, Xs were hard to come by. The wind was mostly from the left and seemed steady, but there were many unexplained verticals and even some wide misses that left us scratching our heads. On target 3 we were very careful with our verticals adjustments, even a 1/4 minute made big changes on the target. We were a little more aggressive with the windage knobs, but even there you get a lot more than you dialed at times. Spotter beware!
The line spinners were also fairly steady from the left, but would suddenly flip 180 or show a gust of head or tailwind for only a few seconds and go right back 9 o’clock. So there were some unseen things going on and it showed up when the target came up.
The first relay was the darkest I’ve ever shoot in. Everything down by the targets was a dull grey and the bullseye would come and go making breaking a shot I felt was good just about impossible. One old guy was complaining that he couldn’t see his front sight and he still shot the highest score of any relay for the day. He had me by 18 points right out of the gate! I figured I’d never catch him, but in the end I came close, with only two Xs between us.
For a one day match it was a good one, mostly when we weren’t shooting it seems! A lot of good food and beverages and conversations with good friends! It’s hard to beat shooting at 1000 yards for a learning experience! Lodi delivers again.
