Just cleaned some cases (577-450 CBC 28-gauge brass) and no.2 musket brass in my tumbler with stainless pins, the FA cleaning tablets. No issues at all, I filled the tumbler to abot 2 inches of full. Both insides and outsides spotless.

I used Dave Maurer's Ceramic Media for many years mixed with SST pins and it worked fine on the primer pockets.

Case peening can be caused by too high RPM tumbler speed. Been using my Lortone which is low a RPM and no issues with SS pins, 1 hr 15min's is all it takes.

It's not the RPM or the media, but the amount of water in the drum. Just cover the contents. They will then rub against each other instead of banging and peening. Do a search. This has been discussed many times and Dan T. provided the correct answer many years ago.

my 40 70 SS came out brownish.
3mm new balls, and a squirt of vinegar and dish soap.

tried them again with some simple gren not as much water and some lemony shine powder.
better but still not bright as your pictures, or the ceramic pin shaped .

what mix do you use to get them that clean? ken
