Re: Lube
Lucas extreme gun oil is the best stuff I have found for lubing the action.

Re: Lube
back in the 'day', while buff hunting on the ranges...they pissed in the bores to clean them.
and those guns still work....I have one...
SO, (as the youngsters start every sentence now, I don't think it matters much as long as you clean it well, and oil it well...
just me...Ken

Exactly what I did to my M-60 just before ending that prolonged vacation in asian paradise all those years ago... only I didn't limit it to the bore.

Nothing.
Lube collects dirt and fouling or freezes at low temperatures.
Have used clean dry actions for years of competition with great success.

Cody,
I agree on the Lucas gun oil on the action. Just a couple of drops, spread out on the load-bearing surfaces.
Eezox in the bore after cleaning with water with a splash of Murphy's Oil soap, with the patch that oiled the bore used to wipe all the external surfaces.
So prepared, I put the rifle into the safe until the next time I use it, whether a week or a year. My .40-65 bore looks like new after 22 years of use, and I have never had so much as fingerprint rust, even when I lived in south Louisiana for 25 years. I wipe the chamber but shoot the first shot, generally into the group, from a lubed bore.
