The reason I asked is I know of another 42 build on a CPA that uses the .444 brass and it's a fine shooter. I almost went this way and still might.
Oh. That would probably make a good mid range cartridge. Lot of people tout the 44 as being so good, but I think the 429 is a completely overlooked sleeper. Probably since Wesson was the only one to chamber BP cartridges in that caliber. Dave Cook was the only other one I knew to do it but his used the 45 2.6 case.

I shot Daves rifle at Alliance one year and I was impressed the way it held the 1K. It's been in my mind to order a gain twist in the .429.

:) Sun is out this morning and the .40-65 is out and ready to go but I keep looking at the temp at 4 degrees and waiting to see if it makes 10 :)

Sunny and 12 degrees this morning. The snow came in last night after raining all day. We have a travel advisory. We got hit harder than they predicted, but the power is on and the woodpile is close. No shop time today. Too cold.

27 here but I kinda squandered my play time yesterday.
Really want to get back out and see what's going on with that 45-70.
Might have to take it with me if I go back to work and try a 400 yd target.

It's snowing here. I spent yesterday cutting some walnut and getting it ready for a trip to the sawmill. But I am going to rummage around and see what ammo I can scare up to shoot this thing next weekend if the weather is half decent.

It is a pretty kick ass tractor for sure. Those logs calculate out at 1400+ lbs each. But it picked them up with ease. I really have no idea how I survived this long without it.

Need to spend some time cleaning up the 3 fences I had to drop this on to get it down.

It started out at 5 below this morning, I had planned to go out and clean up some brush from the trees I cut last weekend, but somehow I only got the livestock fed and more wood in the fire before heading back inside to the warmth. I know I've got more ammo left over from last year and some from several years ago that needs to be shot up. With the short days and cold temps it's going to take some time to get it all done, but at least I have a sense of purpose with this match. Winters are long, cold and dark in the northwoods.

Any progress on the .22 @ 200 match? It would be nice to be able to shoot that from a rest out an open window so as not to have to freeze while doing it. It took my toes a half hour to warm up yesterday and another hour to stop hurting once I could feel them again!

Sounds like perfect weather for tree cutting. That's what I've been doing all day. A balmy 6F here.

Since when is Odie livestock? I'm the one with livestock. But I let the wife feed them.

I found enough ammo for at least two targets. This is gonna happen.

Well I did cook Odie an egg for breakfast this morning but I don't consider him "livestock", he is the chief herder and keeps the livestock on their toes! That herding instinct is pretty strong!

Isnt it just you, your wife, and Odie? The implications...
