plastic ammo box

I've been looking for a plastic box that will hold 40 70 SS rounds
I'd like them in 20 round size if possible.
any ideas????

MTM RF-22 holds 45-90 with height room to spare. Nice hinged lid too. Holds 22 rnds. With bullet up.

I called and they said the 20 round #110 would not fit the 40 70 SS. BUT, it is listed for the 30 40 Craig. which is the case the 40 70 is based on .
but..., I use the JBA cases.. so here is the info
the 110 plastic box is listed as an overall length of 4.30 and .530 width to fit the 30 40 Craig

the Craig based 40 70 'should' fit, it measures .5402 and the info said it is for that round.
and the JBA case measures .534 rim diameter. Only .003 larger than the specs say the box will fit.

Anyway, I ordered the #112 Which they said the 40 70 SS WILL fit in,,,and just to see, I ordered 2 of the #110 to try.
ok...at $2.99 I'll do a test.

let you know when they get here.
OAL should not be a problem because it's a slip fit cover not a hinge.

Woody, who visits here and advertises in BPC News, made me a great 100-round ammo box out of maple. It holds my .40-70 2 1/2 loaded rounds in the upright position. He does great work!

I've just received the Gerry's plastic ammo boxes for the 40 70 SS,
They said on my phone call that the only one that would fit was the
1230 clear #112. its' larger and they do fit the JBA loaded shells fine.

but while they said the 10030 110 clear slip fit 10 box would NOT fit the 40 70 SS,
THEY DO... perfectly.

nice box, fit's the larger JBA loaded shells, PP full length out and the GG also full length.

EZ to carry in my range bag, $30 for two of each,,,not too bad...

I'll reorder as needed...
