Approaching "Q" time

Post by Gussy »

Just about to start loading the trailer with supplies for the "Q".

Who's going??

Hey OLR, what kind of smithing tools will you need this year? I have just about one of every size hammers, a few chisels, couple horse shoeing rasps for stock work. I could double up on some of the hammers...I hate seeing a man cry over a broken hammer handle while adjusting his sights. I always just use the threaded knob.

I'll be heading out in a little over 2 weeks, probably should start loading too.

Gussy,
Bring a good chamois cloth. We'll need it to get a good hand grip on the barrel to twist it one way or the other to adjust headspace. And don't worry about sight adjustment tools, I'm not using sights this year; doesn't seem to make a difference anyway, and one less thing that might break.

I'll be staying at The Restwel, maybe see you there.

Be sure to bring a separated case extractor tool :D

Better than that, I'm bringing a mess of 32/40 ctgs that'll slip right over and past that broken case. I'm no dope.

I'll be there.

I've been thinking of deleting the cheek rest from the stock. Sounds like you're the man for the job!

I'll bring some shade and a windbreak. I'm trying to figure out how to put wheels on it so I can take it to the line. I could make a statement here but it would result in bodily injury or divorce.

Hey OLR,
I'm still loading and was wondering if super glue holds the paper on the bullet better or put it on the outside to hold in the case better. Maybe both?

I don't think using the front half of the case as a tail fin has much promise if the glue fails.

…. been usin' a Super Glue cookie with mixed results. Sometimes the patch takes the whole case with it  maybe I'll change primers …

Probably make by Thursday. If I bring my 15' Grumman canoe and leave the cart home, would that predispose the weather to not rain? bobw

I wouldn't bet on it Bob the way this summer is starting. It's almost June and it's still dropping down in the 40's at night and cricks are over the banks.
