What we do for a living
I've wondered what other members on here do for a living.
I'll start with a picture of me a few weeks ago harnessed up to a davit crane that lowered me 40 feet into a tube that led to an underground water pump station room. It was to do a condition report for the municipality (owner) on the MO/KAN border.
It isn't what I do all the time. Much more interesting was doing levee inspections for USACE in Montana.

Appears I couldn't hold a job! First adult job to retirement: TNT handler, air traffic controller, welder, rail road pipe fitter, gunsmith, custom rifle smith for C. Sharps, tool maker, production cnc machinist and manual machinist job shop. A few other short time jobs.

Re: What we do for a living
This is an interesting thread cuz I've always wondered what we all do or have done. Bpcr sports arent cheap and its time consuming to make it all work for a match or even a hunt. Today time and money arent usually found together; or at least ive always struggled to obtain both.
I'm a wildland firefighter for the BLM/ USFS and got into it when I was 18. Its my 12th season now and its starting to wear on me. I love the sense of adventure and the pride of accomplishment but I'm always alway from home, away from family, and away from my guns during prime shooting season. Something new will come along or I'll be lucky enough to retire someday though.
Happy shooting to all!

Re: What we do for a living
I'm finally retired and home every night. Traveled for the last 20 years as a field service engineer that set up industrial printers that printed medical and food packages all over the world. 100% travel to job sites. The prior 20 years was work on industrial automation manufacturing medical devices, miniature alkaline batteries, disposable diapers and bottling booze. I just planted 100+ wine and table grapes to keep me busy now.
My shooting days are not over but I've cut my travel to matches and have my own range now so just playing at home. FM

Underground Limestone Mine Supervisor in Southern Indiana, been there for 25 years and it keeps me busy( reason I haven’t made it to a shoot this year). We are dimensional so we cut everything instead of blast.

Started out wrangling horses, been a farrier, linesman, done more than 5 million miles truckin' around Australia, studied for a bachelor of science degree, worked as a welder, mechanic, pipe-layer, worked in an underground copper mine as a machinery maintenance technician, now just semi-retired tryin' to make a livin' off our farm and working our trucks at harvest time. ( If it ever rains again )
