I use a Pelican case for my Celestron and Nikon.
Good prices here-

Put it between 2 loaves of bread. The guy at the grocery store always puts the jug of milk between the bread and never have had a jug damaged.

4-inch PVC pipe with foam? I built a box for my scope. I think other people build them for sale.

Actually, I make sure the lens covers are always on and in it's padded carry be bag. It only travels in my truck and I place it where it won't get hammered.

If you're traveling with it on commercial air, I would buy a padded hard case. If you carry it in your own vehicle, I don't see a problem with normal care.
