Beech Front Sight Repair
I have two beech front sights that are in need of repair. Does anyone know of someone who provides this service? Thanks, Steve

Re: Beech Front Sight Repair
Steve: my SWAG (Scientific Wild Arsed Guess) is might be difficult to find someone who can repair those old sights. I found it easier just to purchase a new replacement for my M1885 Winder Musket.
Still, I would try:
--Montana Vintage Arms now lists a Beech combination sight in their on-line catalogue:
https://montanavintagearms.com/product/ ... ont-sight/
Give MVA a call -- (406) 388-4027.
--Buffalo Arms also shows Beech sights made by Red River. I think Red River sights are made in the Ukraine and Buffalo Arms is the importer.
https://www.buffaloarms.com/target-iron ... ver-sights
--Lee Shaver Gunsmith as he lists front sights, but no Beech sights.

Both are Lyman, Ray, thanks for the leads, I'll call them in the morning. BTW, check your email...I couldn't help myself!

What kind of repair do they need?
I happen to have a vintage Lyman No 5 folding sight sitting on my desk that I dug out of a box of parts as I type

Re: Beech Front Sight Repair
I stand corrected, One is a Stevens #205 and it needs the center post in the globe part. The second is a Lyman #5 and its very loose, needs to be tighten to hold its up or down position. Mbartles, not sure what parts I would need. I may just need to drill out the holes that hold the spring wire.

The Lyman should have screws on both ends. Hopefully to not sound like to much of a smart aleck - you sure you don't have a screw loose?
Make sure they are both there and that they are tight...

took a closer look at the sight and it looks like it had been "MICKEY MOUSED" in the past. Thanks, Steve
