Re: Annual Caribou hunt
Your welcome. In reality the bolt guns only get used about once or twice a year for big game shooting where as the single shots get used monthly the year around for match work. Like most gun folks though I'm interested in anything that shoots and try to use them all. I am particularly fond of Rollers, Hi-walls and Martini Cadets.
The Mini 74 Sharps build was a challenge and interesting project though and Mike Milholand is going to compete with it this winter. This gun is am example of the Niedner blued receiver and browned barrel.
I still think it needs a good checkering job to be complete but he wanted it plain.

My 338-06 on a FN has an older original Redfield Jr 1 piece scope base and it has flip up peep also. Anything inside of 150 yds with it is in real trouble. bobw

Yeah I like them so well I have about 1/2 doz of them. Gunshows and pawn shops usually less than $10 with sling swivels. When I had my Business rifle built back in 2010 I had Shiloh install sling swivel studs, use 1 of these slings on it all the time.bruce m wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 7:08 pm bobw,
I too have an affinity for the rem700 bdl sling.
I have 2 of them and look after them.
they fit into the groove of your shoulder as you walk, and try to slip off much less than those wide abominations popular today.
they also catch the wind less than a wide sling when shooting offhand.

That Peep sight is from Redfield. Long ago they provided this as an option
on their scope bases.
I have two bases with the peep sight. One mounted on my Savage 110PL 308
and I am thinking of installing the other one for my Sav 110CL , 358 Win.
Nice as a backup if we have a bad snow day during hunting
