Am needing a used .40 cal barrel for a 40-50 Sharps straight project I am working on. Most any cartridge in .40 will do as I plan to make the barrel between 26-28 inches for a light short hunting rifle.
Surely someone has one sitting around from a rebarrel job.
Thanks,
Andre`

Re: Used .40 Cal Barrel needed
Andre,
Just a though--I'm not certain a standard weight barrel originally installed on a Sharps is a candidate. If you cut off enough allow a .40-50 reamer to clean up the chamber, you may not have enough shoulder left. Of course, if you are mounting the barrel on an action with smaller threads, it may not be a problem. I once had a Shiloh .40-70 SS heavy octagon barrel mounted on a 1902 Rolling Block action, and it worked fine.
