My targets were sitting on the counter when I got the the airport this morning !! Opened them up and my jaw dropped !! They were the scope ones. Man, how did I screw up.
Tried to find the invoice . Wasn't one. Non in my email.
So I went to the sight to see what I did wrong and saw the picture of both sides !! Oh that little dim light started to flicker !! look on the other side. :P
It looked like It was doable , so I ran home, loaded up some with blackhorn, grabbed the BP ones and some patches and headed to Liquor
Store.
Came out of the liquor store and it was blowing and snowing so I went home and drank the Whiskey instead !!

(well at least most of the story is true)

Here's the best I could do on Sunday. It was with my 40/65 Shiloh with a 416 Grain brooks Creedmoor bullet propelled by 56 grains of 1 1/2 Swiss in Starline cases. It was only 190 yards and with the range correction factor the 200 yard group is 6.447". After seeing some of the others posted this one doesn't stack up but I had 5 shots in 1 3/8". I had trouble seeing the target as I did not have my shooting glasses.

We aren't going to worry about the minor details here John.
I just stepped mine off when I set the bench up.
Guy came by the other day and glassed it and said it was 197 yds.
I'm not dragging the bench back 3 yds. That would put me in a big sagebrush.

Maybe I should have shot my 1884 trapdoor Springfield. I know this won't count as I shot it in Sept 2017 in preparation for my trip to GA. This was shot at 190 yards. This fall I had the high score of all rifles at 600 yards in the 1st relay. Several beat me in the 2nd relay but not bad for a 130 year old rifle. Maybe I'll break it out for the next match.

Wow!!

My Trapdoor shoots excellent, but I don't think I've ever shot a 1.5 MOA with it.

John,

You need to bring that to Friendship in April for our Military Rifle match. We shoot a 40 shot Silhouette match within the regular match on Saturday. Last year I shot a 26 of 40 in April, but only a 19 of 40 in the October Military match.

Brian, I’m glad you started this postal match, it’s informative and uplifting and I wish I could participate. I’m starting to think the 45-110 is getting too much for me and I should upgrade to a 45-70. It’s an exceptional day when I can keep 10 shots on an 8-inch bull and a rare day when I can keep all 10 within 4 inches. But hope springs eternal each year and I’ve picked up several ideas by following this thread. I hope it keeps going all winter.

Thanks Mike
Maybe you should try some of my groove diameter bullets that will cut your powder capacity back.
