Need some help from the long time shooters on An Axtell front wind adjustable sight. Question is the front sight a friction based fit or does the wind adjust nut, screw out to move the sight? Your information will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 77 Axtell and the screw moves the sight but it does not screw in or out.
