Sounds like most of us from that order period, will be getting a late Christmas gift real soon. I ordered in January of 2014. As of last week, Lucinda said I was getting a AAA finish and off for checkering in January. The Ballard will soon get a break.

I got the call from Lucinda today, made the final payment of excise taxes and shipping and it will be in my hands by late in the week. They just don't ship over Christmas to avoid delays and problems and I can sure understand that.

Maybe I'll get to shoot it at Ridgway.

I picked it up yesterday. It's exactly as I imagined it. I'll try to post a picture

I went out and shot it today. No real load development, just determined the OAL and seating depth. I loaded 15 rounds with 45 grains of 1 1/2 Swiss and a Brooks 416 grain Creedmoor bullet. Bore sighted it at 50 yds, shot twice to get centered, moved a target to 100 yards, came up 6 minutes and the 1st shot was a 10X. I did not have the correct rear sight yet so I mounted another Sharps sight with just one screw. It held through 15 shots. It weighs just over 10 lbs with sights.
Here's a picture of the target.

I don't know why it posted 2 pictures of the target. Woody syndrome I guess.

Woody - what do you mean, "don't blame me"? Of course we are going to blame you. That's only fair. :) BTW - wood arrived and looks great. Thx.

John - will you be campaigning the 40-50SS this season? Your shoulder isn't getting any younger.

I might shoot it in a few matches if I get it where I think it will be competitive. At 10 lbs with low recoil it may be my rifle of the future. My 40/65 will still be the GO TO gun for now. I've got a few to choose between.

C'mon......... go for it. We should both start the season with a new rifle. ;) (that way my scores might not look so bad :)).
