I was just reading an older addition of Rifle magazine that had an article by C E Harris. He was talking about cast bullet use in various rifling forms and twist rates I found quite interesting. Near the end of his article he brought up what I thought was a pretty good idea in fitting the bullet shape to the rifles throat angle.
What he was proposing is not really a new idea but one I had not run across before. He suggested making a bullet forming die that matches the throat angle of your particular chamber. Forming said die with the same reamer that our chamber was cut with.
Harris's article was pertaining to smokeless use with lead bullets but I see no reason why it would not also apply just as well to Black powder with the current popularity of wiping between shots.
This might be a real help in maintaining bullet nose integrity as well as cartridge alignment.
A pretty good idea!

I'd be surprises if this idea is not already used by the Schuetzen guys who breech seat their bullets.

Not a bad idea Mike. It might work

You mean like this to at least roughly match the leade?
These 38 cal DDEPP bullets have a 3.5 degrees per side leade off of the "patch to case neck I.D. base band"

Yeah, in the article Harris suggested using the same throating reamer the barrel throat was cut with.
