I have a 16x16 wood shop that doubles as my casting shop, reloading shop, and fix electronic or make gadgets shop

I have a south paw .50 cal. Thompson Center Renegade I bought new and maybe fired it 10 times maybe. I got it for my Left handed wife if she ever wanted to go with me. Now I have a lefty Grand Daughter to use for Deer but it has not happen yet. They are a fine short light weight hunting rifle and very accurate. But seeing the hammer drop when I shoot it gets distracting.

I don't mind a percussion hammer in my face, but a flint hammer is a different animal. The one time I shot a right handed flinter, I ended up etching my shooting glasses with the first shot. I don't even see the hammers on my right handed percussion rifles, or double hammer shotguns. Even less so when I'm hunting or shooting skeet.

Oh yeah, a little stain will make it POP! Love that Tiger Maple look, now if it only worked like good dense walnut does!

Re: New casting bench
My reflexes are so slow I doubt if the hammer or cock dropped as slow as a minute hand, would make any difference if I flinch. The ball or bullet would be long gone. What does bother me though and has the tendency to speed up my reaction time is getting socked in the side of the head by the fella next bench over shooting flint that has a burned out flash hole or possibly one of those dang White Lightning liners with the internal cone. Now there is a solution in search of a problem!
