Hello All,
I have a Shiloh Sharps 45-70 and she does go BOOM when I pull the trigger. I am looking for a pair of electronic noise reduction earmuffs. I’m looking for the kind that allows you to talk and hear what people are saying but which shuts down all noise when the rifle goes off. I know I can get plain muffs with an NRR rating of 34 but I am looking for the electronica variety.
Any suggestions?

Re: Electronic hearing protection
Jim,
I have two sets of muffs that have the features you are looking for. They have volume control so you and your spotter can talk normally and hear each other. High quality muff that quiets the report of the rifle very well. I also shoot a 45 70 and a 45 110. The name on the muffs is Howard Leight by Honeywell. I picked them up at a .local gun shop a couple of years ago. I would reccomend them or a brand that is similar. Midway should have something I would think.

Re: Electronic hearing protection
I have gone through several head sets. The Howard Leight and Peltor Tactical a good set if you like the cans. But I get pinched by the stock that looks like a hickey after a couple relays.
I switched to this set when Walker came out with them https://www.midwayusa.com/ltd/product?pid=1017523817 these work for my hard hearing and are very comfortable and cut noise fast. You can also amplify the sound. With the blue tooth I thought I could pair two because they have a microphone so you can talk on the smart phone or listen to the blue tooth on the computer and TV. I thought that would just be great to talk to my spotter and understand what she said, but unfortunately two sets won't pair like over the phone. But with my hard hearing problem I can hear range commands and my spotter. I even wear them like hearing aids sometime and you can wear a wide primed hat.
I also bought a back up without the blue tooth incase one goes down. You can recharge them on your phone or computer USB.

Re: Electronic hearing protection
Hello guys!
After doing a lot of reading I ended up with both electronic over the ear muffs (plus soft earplugs if necessary) and, I also ordered a set of the Walker razor XV electronic ear plugs. They are coming out with a model 3.0. I back ordered a pair with midway USA. Looks like they will come in in June.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Greatly appreciate it.

Re: Electronic hearing protection
I just bought a set of those on amazon a few weeks ago. They're rated at 30NNR. They also fit nicely.Coltwcf44 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 6:02 pm Jim,
