Re: 1,000 yard
I use a DZ Arms scope on my Shiloh 45-70, from 200 yards to 1000 yards.

I was told that the silhouette mounts with a 23” Scope will hit 1,000

23" MVA with Silhouette mounts, shot farther than 1000 when I had a 45-70.

Re: 1,000 yard
Okay so if I get Silhouette mounts they should be okay
Re: 1,000 yard
This depends solely on the spacing between the scope mounts and the adjustment range for the rear assembly. You need to talk with J.C.at MVA

Charle gave you all the info you need. The 23 inch MVA has all you need.

Yeah, just mount it like they recommend. I believe it's 10.34" which translates to 0.003" adjustment per minute of angle.
I like using the DZ mounts on that scope, but also have one with the MVA "schuetzen" mounts (basically the same as the silhouette mounts, but made for left handed shooters). On mine I added one of the "MOA knobs" for the windage adjustment which helps a lot and I highly recommend that. I don't use one for elevation though.
I like the centerless mildot reticle. It's really nice for bracketing the target (only works well on midrange due to the LR target dimensions), and for holding off.

Re: 1,000 yard
I have the Winchester mount on my 23 inch MVA scope replacing the silhouette mount. For me it is easier to adjust and there is no backlash to take into account. I'm able to shoot silhouette and creedmoor without worry. Yes it is a Shiloh 74 45-70.

MVA 23 inch with the silhouette will get you to 1000. Same scope with the #2 mounts and the interchangeable rear blocks makes things a bunch easier than the silhouette mount.
