pretty sure its not legal for competition... but for practice or just having fun there is no lube to worry about, no leading. I have used them in my pistol a lot!! never had any problems. If you want to give it a try Harbor freight has some powders cheap, just tumble some bullets in a small container then bake them (not in your wife's oven!!!!) and run thru your sizer to make them true. Just a FYi....the bullets will harden a little from the tempering and the paint but, still remain pretty close to the same BHN.

The Harbor Freight powder is not the best but its cheap to start with. You will also need a dedicated oven to bake them in. I use a taster oven I got at Walmart for about $20. I have coated a bunch of pistol bullets and some rifle bullets for a 7.62x39. I have also coated some PP bullets I was given for a .45 rifle. I coated them to see how much bigger they would get. 2 coats added about .003" to the diameter. That will help as they are very undersize. They also look kind of neat with a brass case, white patch and a bright red bullet. Due to the lock down I have not been able to get out and shoot any of them to see how they work but it was an interesting project.

That reminds me of the 2017 International LR muzzleloader matches in Australia. The Spanish came with beautiful swaged bullets that were all wrapped in papers of Spanish colors and stamped with the crest of Spain. They were gorgeous. But they were also way too long for their barrel twists and did not fare well. They sure looked damn fine though!

LOL I wish. you got me beat hands down. The best I got was a red bullet with a white smile on the tip. I am not much of an artists.
ON the up side, my lock down is starting to ease up a bit. Maybe later this month I can actually get a bit of range time in.
