Rear sight choices
M .50-90 Business Rifle with a 30” .50-90 barrel has a full buckhorn and is about to have one of Stephen Borud’s front sights. I am contemplating getting a Lawrence rear sight. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to the Lawrence over the buckhorn?
Real gun powder is black.

Re: Rear sight choices
For a field/hunting rifle I prefer the Lawrence over the semi or full buckhorn rear sight simple because of the low profile against the rifle’s barrel; less to get hung up on in tight cover.

Re: Rear sight choices
I put a Lawrence on my 50, the only issue I have is that the sight shoots about a foot low at 50 yards. Once I raise the ladder I’m good to 300 using the markings on the sight. My front blade has been filled down a little which I had done to sight in the rifle with the buckhorn sight that was originally on the rifle.
You could also swap out the buckhorn for a semi buckhorn or cut the sight down.

Re: Rear sight choices
Ronnie, I shoot semi buckhorn rear sights. I’ve tried the Lawrence Long range and didn’t like it. Some people love the Lawrence, it’s just not for me.
