Gonna need a bigger pot

Post by pacecars »

I cast some 670 gr .50 cal bullets last night and it doesn’t take long to empty my little Lyman 10 lb pot. Any suggestions for a 25 lb pot? Anyone use the RCBS?

I have and like the RCBS EZ Melt, it works well for ladle casting for me.

Shiloh has a large furnace that holds around 60-70# but I don't know if they still offer it. It was 6-7 years ago when I looked at one.

At this moment, if I was looking for a lead melting pot for BPCR casting I would look at the Lyman.

I’d like to have your problem - have been thinking about a fifty! :D

Wagge makes a non-cataloged 20 pound pot - you have to call and ask them to make it. Buffalo Arms carries these pots, I just looked and they are out of stock. My shooting partner uses this pot and really likes it.

I look forward to your posts on shooting your new Shiloh - will take all the enabling I can get!

+10 and get a PID controller for it, fact is buy 3 you still in them for less than any of the other suggestions just 1 pid swop it around to the other pots. Why 3? Put 1 in20 in one ,one in 30 in another and 1in whatever for you to decide. Then when you figure out what works ,you use all the pots same alloy and have 60lbs ready to go, no more jacking around at 20 lbs a time. PDQ why sure I'm gonna send you a consulting bill. bobw

I use the Waage K-4757-1, and am very pleased with it. 908-245-9363

See the following article:

The current problem is every source seems to be out of stock the last time I checked. BTW, another option is to get the largest Lee pot and use a separate PID controller.
