Went to the range yesterday and done a test on two different bullets at 200yds. First time I've fired my rifle since before Covid, first of Dec. I think. Really kicked my but to do it, but I had to get out of the house and make some smoke. Verified a load that I had shot before and it shot great. Now I can go back and shoot one for score in a couple of days. :D

I understand Smoke. I went to the range last week and shot 15 rounds from the New To Me, (NTM), Borchardt. I also fired a 25 round .22 100 yard bench rest match on Thursday. My ability to shoot tight groups from a bench has severely been degraded. Doesn't look good for our first match at Friendship in three weeks. I'm loaded and will be there regardless. Now that you are retired, you have no excuse for not coming North.

You are right, but I got to recover a little more before I come up. I would be wasting my time trying to hit a chicken offhand. :(

Woody & Gerald - you two take care and do whatever is needed to make sure you are "long haul shooters". Hope to see both of you this season.

Thanks for your comment on my target. The match director that sighed my target for me also said that that target was quit good for an insert .22 liner. This was my first time using it and I was surprised how picky it was with ammo choices. I have no experience at 100 yard bench rest with a .22. Are the bench rest groups covered with a quarter? It was quite easy to move my point of impact to the center of the target at 100 yards.

but otherwise we are done til fall.

well distant thunder has clearly demonstrated the potential of pp bullets.
just goes to show if you put the thought and effort in, they can shoot.
it was not that long ago that they were, while thought to be interesting, mostly dismissed for serious use.
results here prove otherwise.

Did 'Distant Thunder' paper-patch his .22 LR or is he just a heck of a good shot no matter what he shoots? Congrats to you Jim and to Brian thank you for doing this again. Somehow it made the winter go by just a bit quicker even though I couldn't participate.

yes he is a good shot, which makes him a good vehicle to compare pp with greasers.

Thanks again for putting this on, even though I didn't get around to submitting any targets, I still enjoyed the results shared by others.

Thank you for running this again this year. I wimped out and rode drag but what little I got out I enjoyed it.
See you this year at the MT 1000 and the Quigley. I hope.

Brian,

Thank you for putting on the postal match again this year. It sure gives an old man a reason to get out and do some shooting in the winter months (weather permitting)! I'm already looking forward to next winter's match. I'll try to do better in the math department  !

I really ended up liking the string measuring the way we did it this year. It made me have to think about when and how much to turn the knobs and if they should be turned at all. I found it better than just shooting for group size.

Well done!

My thanks to all who turned in targets and all the pictures too.
