At Friendship, they still have an active slug gun group. I don't shoot that discipline so can't add anything more.

As Woody said, active group shooting at Friendship in June and September. Normally. Also it is still shot at Canal Fulton, in Ohio. At Friendship we normally get 15 to18 shooters. As in many disciplines, we are getting older. Jim

It was making a comeback at Phoenix then the NMLRA abandoned Phoenix due to prohibitive cost.

Been a few years since I have shot mine.

They use a sealed ignition with either a cap or rifle primer, a firing pin is built into the sealed ignition.

Go to nmlra slugun45 video. There is some really great information there. Interviews with Don and Kevin Warner, probably the best slugun shooter current or past. Branch and Michelle Manley video. Check it out. Jim

They had a slug gun match last year at the AZwins , at least it was listed on the events schedule. Don't know if they offered it this year, they took the event list down when they canceled the muzzle loader matches.

Kenny yes the canceled the muzzleloader events mostly due to covid restrictions by the state of Arizona.
The long range matches, bptr and muzzleloader, silhoutte and 22 bptr are still a go, but due to covid restrictions in place the number of entries is limited to 48.

thanks again guys,
research is showing that the whole slug gun thing done properly might get a LOT more expensive than realized.
to do it properly you need good gear and a bit of it.
it actually looks like it would offer a great challenge, and hence great satisfaction done properly.
further study and saving money is the path to tread.
this discipline is not for the black rifle brigade.

Slug gun and long range muzzleloader both look like a good bit of fun, but the problem I see with them is there's so few matches anywhere within a 1000 mile one way trip to make the expense of setting either one up worth the effort. So when I get a few more rounds thru both of these new Shiloh's I'll send off another order to Shiloh and get another one in the works.
