Bore cleaners

Post by CaptnJack »

Howdy, all. I have been using Rusty Duck Black Off to clean my Sharps and muzzleloader rifles and I am getting low. I went to buy some more and they must have closed down can't find it anywhere. I really liked the way it cleaned off black powder residue especially as a bore cleaner. Just wanting to know what are you using out there on your rifles. Need to find something new.

The Shiloh brand solvent has always worked well for me and my Shilohs.

10-1 water/oil mix, the same as what I wipe with when shooting. I just run a few to dry and run a good oil patch after.

1, several Windex with vinegar patches
2. Dry patch
3 97% rubbing alcohol patch - to remove last residual moisture
4 Dry patch
5a Olive oil patch(I am part Italian) (or canola oil) --If not long before next shooting the rifle.
Wipe down exterior with RIG gun grease patch
5B. If longer term storage, apply RIG patch to bore, too
Lastly, when going shooting again with the rifle,
Wipe the bore with a couple dry patches before shooting Paper patch bullets.
Otherwise wipe the bore for greasers with a couple damp patches.
