Dual Diameter mould from BACO

Post by Kenny Wasserburger »

Mould arrived this afternoon just before the blizzard hits. Thanks to both Arnie and Jim for the help. And to BACO for building such a quality mould.

Yes for the 16 twist Dora. But is short enough for the old Hell Bitch, and my 45-100 will be a 16 twist also.

Kenny,

It sure looks good! I'm looking forward to the range reports.

Our mud season has arrived early this here and what isn't still covered with slushy snow is deep, soft mud making it pretty hard to any shooting. Being we haven't even reached mid March winter may NOT be completely over yet. So it's casting season! :D

BACO sure is making very good quality molds! I have several and somehow I feel I'm not done collecting them yet!

What I find interesting is the transition from .445 to .442.
Any comments on that ??

Sure looks like a patching reference line to me...

Yes, the transition from the ogive to the "patch to land" body is
intended for a patching reference line. A person can set the patch to just cover that step
and gives the leading edge of the patch a very slight "roll crimp"
Also gives a few thousandths
clearance in front of the leading edge of the patch so as to further avoid lead riding on the bore.

Kenny
Really want to know how this DD bullet configuration is working out for you? Any issues with your chamber?

We are having winter, the day after I received the mould I went to our ranch, a historic blizzard was on the way, according to the weather guessers.

We got plenty of wet heavy snow but never the predicted wind. I am still at the ranch for a few days, spending time with my 84 year old Dad. Probably be home this coming weekend will cast and wrap a few.

Mr Wasserberger,
You are blessed to spend that time with your Dad,wish I could do the same.God has put us all here for these times. I see nothing but good things with that bullet. Interstate I25S is shut down at Buffalo with 2' feet of concrete snow from here to Denver, the stuff you get one chance to move, another 5" fell last night.

The dual diameter bullet major diameter is .452 the minor diameter is .446 dead nuts on it is a wee bit tight with Seth cole 55W paper in my fire formed brass which is a bit tight chamber. I have some 55Y around will try it. But did order more of it. Hats off to BACO for a perfect mould. Testing commences tomorrow.
