How many months? Doc says 3 and I'll be fine. Any experience?

The biggest issue is the stainless steel wire they use to close your sternum. It takes time to heal up properly. If it hurts, wait a little longer till it does not. You don't want to screw this up, give it the proper respect and time. Everyone is a little different depending upon their medical condition. I have seen a lot of these over a forty year career in anesthesiology, as well as have seen a good number of friends recover from bypass surgery.
