Re: Remembering Dan Theodore
What can I say about Dan? In 1964 I was holding my first BPTR Mid Range Regional and had no prior experience running this venue. I had spoken with Dan several times and he encouraged me to go for it. On top of that he said he would attend at his own expense. He also talked Kelly O to attend, both from California. The first day was beautiful and I was flying high. The next day, unexpected storms arrived with localized tornado alerts. I had to call the match off. Neither Dan nor Kelly said a word and both said "Thank you" and traveled home . Both entered the following year. What class........
I have learned so much from Dan over the years. He never hesitated in helping newbies like me, and I will always be appreciative for his contributions to this sport. RIP..............

Re: Remembering Dan Theodore
Don't feel bad I measured a window a while back three times to make sure it was right and it still turned out 1 inch wrong. It always happens when I'm running my yap and trying to read a tap measure at the same time. I have a close life time friend gun nut that always wants to hang around while I'm helping him with some gun project and I always make the mistake of listening to his great brain storms instead of doing what I know is correct. Disaster usually follows quickly on the heels of the advice. I now refuse to do anything really technical with him in attendance. I just say do you want to stay and have this job screwed up or do you want to leave and have it right. He usually mutters something about my family linage as he walks out the door! Nah, just kidding he is always good nature-d when I give him the bums rush!

Re: Remembering Dan Theodore
Thanks Kenny for starting this thread. I have enjoyed reading all of the memories of Dan T. He loved to talk, that's for sure.
I have a stainless Douglas barrel in .40 cal with a 1 in 13 twist that he had come up with, he was going to develop a load for it but I never heard of him having any success with it. Like many of you have said, he loved to experiment with something new. I know I am grateful to have known him, he certainly left his mark on our sport.

Once talking with Dan about moulds, he said he had so many, he converted his linen closet to hold them all. I believed him. .......
