Went to the local hydraulic. Repair shop and got an "O" ring. Specific material is important and the one I got has been going for over 4 years. Not a common O ring material. I told the woman what I was using it for and she said you need this. Possibly neoprene, but I'm not sure on that.

Just went to the local Ace Hardware and picked up a v-belt for a vacuum cleaner. My thumbler is over 32 years old and still going strong. I have replaced the drum liner and lid gasket one time in those years.
