This year marks the 150th anniversary of the official introduction of the rifle we call the Model 1874 Sharps. According to "Sharps Firearms" by Roy Marcot it was started sometime in 1870 but the official introduction is generally regarded as 1871. Cool milestone. If somebody already brought it up I apologize.

I don't recall seeing anything about it but I think that is probably right. I have an original 1871 Springfield field trial Sharps. Sharps supplied the actions for these and they were the conversion actions. Springfield decided to make 300 carbines from the ones they had gotten and ordered more actions. The 300 new actions they were sent were the 1874 actions. This was in 1871 so it makes sense.
