Comb riser source

Post by kwilliams »

Does anyone know if there is another source making the leather Barnes Saddlery style comb/cheek riser? Really not interested in some foreign made synthetic item.
thanks

Kim a little different, but I'm using an Accuriser.

Thanks Brian, that will be my choice if I cannot find the Barnes style.

On the same page with the grumpy bear. My shiloh one only hikes the comb 5/8" to 3/4" which depending on how your face is built with a #1 or MR stock dimensions to 800 yds or so. If you are long in the face top to bottom they are inadequate for 1000 yd sight elevs on my guns. Couple weeks back at Big Hill and the Q I saw guys using the Accuriser and got the users opinions. Google them and ordered one for the Sharps. $65 SHIPPED HAD IT IN 3 DAYS. The main body has a lace up and heel strap to keep in place with velcro on each side frt to rear. Your put the comb as high or low as you want it and can adjust it to your fit as needed. Going to try mine at the next shoot. Well designed and well built. Bobw

How do you wipe between shots with that? Does it have a tunnel the rod goes through or something?

I have one on my rolling block , I use a 3/8 Delrin rod without problems . 3/8 is for my .40 cal. 7/16 for .45 cal. and bigger. I really like the accurizer :D

Have you checked the Shiloh store?
I don't know if they stock them but I have seen some there.

Perentie when set high enough there is a tunnel but you'd have to be scope equipped to use it but with a MVA buffalo Soule sight right in front of it you just delrin around it as mentioned...bobw

Bob and Kim, I’ll be seeking your opinions next week as I need a comb rest on my roller.

David Barnes will be at Raton for the .22 BPCRA and Internationals. Call him and have him bring one specifically from your rifle, if you are headed to Raton. If not going have someone pick it up from him or have David mail it to you. I have three of his risers and ordered them from him directly.

As mentioned before I installed the Accuriser on the butt of my MR 45-70. The rifle has a Shaver frt sight 30" heavy barrel and rear sight a XLR Buffalo Soule sight with a Magnum Hadley on saturday I adjusted it until I had a good cheek to riser contact
I used 4' cross sticks and a short bucket with padded seat allowing both elbows on the thighs, very steady . That is one of the things you need at 1000 yds with a wind blowing on you as well as all the way to the target . I had on 178 + or - a few moa for that range. Front of the accuriser set at 1 1/16" and rear at 1 1/2" above the stock to give me what was needed for a good cheek weld to the stock. Didn't win anything but the satisfaction of shooting well in tough conditions...bobw

The accu-riser, on a mva scoped 1874 interferes with the cleaning rod. Solution is to press the riser down with your thumb while wiping. Ewww, no really its no issue at all. Just thumb it.

I looked up the Accuriser online yesterday and I like what I see. Neither of my 45-110's have a cheek rest in the Shiloh rear stock, but my Shiloh 45-90 does. Will the cheek rest be a problem for the Accuriser? Will it fit well with the cheek rest?
