LOP - Better to go long or short?

Post by Jharg »

Howdy.

I have a new Shiloh Creedmoor on order and am debating to go long or short on the LOP. I have an Axtell now with 14" LOP and I use a recoil pad. The Rifle and recoil pad combo seems to do the trick. My eye is about a hat bill away from the eyepiece of the Vanier tang sight. I Shoot without the recoil shield and it can also work but just not sure what is best.

I am 5' 7" so not overly tall and that is why I was thinking of getting the shorter LOP ...

Thoughts and advice?

Thanks

If you already need a recoil pad now, why go for a shorter stock? Seems rather the opposite is required. Also, prone and standing ideally need different LOP. So, depends on what you want to do.

If you go shorter, you'll likely take a hit on the price if you ever want to sell it.

And one can always go from long to short. Reverse, not so much.

I went ahead and requested a return to the standard of 14". I believe that is the standard LOP for Shiloh, yes?
