Once I year during the winter months I like to really deep clean my rifles. Would you recommend the removal of the lock? Is the best way to back out the screws and tap them to get the lock out? I just don't want to chip the wood around the lock.
Good morning, First loosen the front tang screw and the front trigger bar screw, this will relax it and lesson the chance of pulling a sliver. Thanks Kirk
I like tinkering with things but if I were to chip the wood I'd have to beat myself severely about the the head and shoulders. So my question is. Is it really necessary to remove the plate and clean there or does it stay clean enough not to worry about it?
