I have recently shot a 45-70 with a 520 grain bullet. After letting my shoulder heal for a month, I am moving on to Plan B. My question is whether a longer stock would help with the recoil, make no difference, or make it worse. I am about 6-5 with long arms, and the factory stock is probably somewhat short for me. I realize that recoil pads, smaller bullets, and/or smaller caliber may also be part of the equation, but I have not read anything that specifically addresses gun fit as it relates to recoil. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Welcome
This works very well with my .45-90 and 540gn bullets.
