Approximately what the maximum distance will this sight get me to on a 50-90? Yes I know bullet weight and charge makes a difference. Will be on a shiloh 28" saddle rifle, gun will be primary used for 200 yards gongs and hunting deer and the occasional bog donkey. thanks

mine wouldnt quite reach 500 on a 22 lr, so 200 should be doable with a 50.

Now Dean!! the 4.5 grains of powder the .22 holds I don't think that powder load for the .50 will reach 200 yards with that

The short barrel will give you a tiny bit more sight radius which will help.

Do you have a 200 yard sight setting with that sight? I imagine it's probably somewhere between 0.35" and 0.45" ? If so you'll probably have close to an inch more sight over and above the 200 yard setting, so I imagine you'd have no trouble hitting past 500 or 600.

500-600 yards, thanks Chris. If I ever need to stretch it longer, I can always swap it out and put on my MVA #100.

Should be able to shed some light here. I have a 28" barrelled Saddle rifle in 57 x 1 3/4" ...( love it too ) and purchased it with a #132 MVA sight. Has the elevation screw but no windage. For discussions sake..the 130/132 have the same elevation ceiling. Mine appears to top out a about 128 pts. The zero on these sights is lower to allow them to be more practical for field use. To use in competition, I fitted the long range transition vernier so the pts setting will be different of course but this should allow some indication of what the site should be capable of. Baring in mind you've a 50 x 2 1/2"..so likely shooting a lot flatter and allow for less increments for a given range. Using a 468gn gg bullet with 75 grns of Swiss 3f for about 1320 fps.
200 yds on long range.. 36 pts... equates to approx. 65 pts on the #130 series
400 yds " " " 67 pts .. "" " " 110 pts
600 yds " " " 98 pts " " " 138 pts
..These are just approximations when comparing the two posts together. Basically I think you'll be fine to 500 yds and possibly sneak in another 100 yds or so courtesy of the flatter trajectory. Of course this doesnt allow for barrel lift, loads, hold etc etc. .. Hope this is of some help.

It's all good Chris... I've just got to keep it brief. .. Oh yes... and its not a ' 57 x 1 3/4" '... ... Try a 50 x 1 3/4" . Need to proof read more thoroughly.
