hammer screw question

My 1874 hammer screw works loose from time to time. How tight can this screw be or is there a fix for this? Steve

I use a little blue loctite.

With the loctite it doesn't need to be real tight, just pretty snug like you say.
Be sure your screwdriver fits the slot.
