Choosing barrel length for a 50-90 Sharps

32 inch, # 1 heavy. 1 in 36 twist. 20 yr old Shiloh 74. original bbl.
completely restocked in XXXX presentation walnut with cast nosecap.
(yeah, I do that...fit wood to metal...Winchester allows .003, mine is .0000.)

84 1 1/2 Swiss,TWO paper wads first, then one 030 veggie wad. under a 590 pointed bullet cast 1 in 20. soft...
front arm rest, pullet TIGHT TO THE SHOULDER..this compensates for the hammer blow.
two inches or less all the time at 100 yds..
two paper wads prevent the veggie wad from sticking to the bullet down range.
go check, you'll find them 50 70 and 100 yds...bad for accuracy.
make sure ALL your wads are in front of the bench. bullet flying free.

If you loaded the original load, 100 gr. of Fg and a 473 gr pp bullet it would be a pussy cat to shoot with the 1-36 twist.

Just wipe any residual lube from the bullet base on a grease groove bullet before loading in the ctg. and you won't need paper wads.
