Hi, Big E! Welcome to some fun shooting. Hopefully a California shooter will hop on and invite you to a match and maybe over to his reloading room and show you how he does it. There are several good Youtube videos for you to watch to get yourself an idea how several different shooters do the whole process, from casting bullets, prepping the case, to primer choice and polishing cases and then the reloading itself. It is not hard to earn, but you are right, it takes a good process to deliver a good quality load.
Best wishes!

Lumpy the only problem my wife found about the book was me wanting to get more rifles :D
A person who is willing to give up a freedom for perceived security deserves neither.

WELCOME :!:
The 405 never shot well for me either.
What do you do for fouling control? :?
Look at a Creedmoor or Postel type bullet.
DGL is the lube I use.
Good source for bullets-

Finding someone to work with you is the very best way to learn the ropes. That is what I did, although once you get the basic instruction you will very quickly begin to develop your own techniques around that basic instruction.

Venturino's book is helpful but it is quite dated now - unless there has been a revision - and some things I was interested in reading about simply were not in the book. It is well-illustrated and interesting however.
