Howdy!
I stumbled on an early Shiloh (Farmingdale), serial number in 4 thousand range, in .40-50 Bottleneck. In looking for dies (and pre-cast bullets: casting will come later), diameter to be .408 or .403, or what? (haven't slugged the barrel, was hoping this info might be readily available). Thanks for any help.

Dies offered show those for .403 bullets and those for .408. Which die set/bullets (will order from Buffalo) for factory Shiloh guns? Also, if forming brass, what parent case is best?

Believe you'll find Shilohs barrels at 408, but a call to them will settle that.
You might take a look at Captors' 45-60 brass for the turning into the 40-50 bn.

The dies I have are .403 for the original guns they work now for my Shiloh sizing the brass small enough to hold a pp bullet, the .408 die will not, but one can always expand the brass if the .403 is too tight for your bullet, if you are never going to shoot pp bullets it dosn't matter.
