Shiloh 40-82

Post by humboldt »

Do you have the dimensions for the Shiloh 40-82? Is it like the 40-82 Winchester or the Crossno 40-82? What is the muzzle velocity compared to a 40-70 Sharps straight? Mori

I have heard that they are too accurate for the average shooter to take advantage of.

Is that true ?

Sure wish someone with some real Target Rifle savvy like you or BFD would give a 40-82 a try.

No need, the recent Missoula Match in both silhouette and long range proved the point.
John King won silhouette and Tasha was second right behind Dave Gullo, both with 40-82's
I heard the secret to making them shoot lights out, but promptly forgot the formula. Not on purpose though.

I'm just a small time shooter from podunkville, but the last time I shot my 40-82 in a match about 3 years ago, it was a muscle twitch from a perfect score and won the match. But Now that I got my KAL 40 cal PP mould it is about to get resurrected. If I was a silhouette shooter, that would be my go to gun.

No formula DD.
Just point the small end down range and pull the trigger. It takes care of the rest. 8)

The ones I have seen used have lasted about a season or until they go to Raton. They shoot lights out--until the wind blows. Shoot straight, rdnck

Indeed. Exactly no one used a 40-82 at Raton in 2014. Zeeero.

I don't have equipment lists for '15 and '16, but I bet there were bunches of them in '15, and almost everyone but me and my shooting partner was using on in 2016...

Brent,
You are right, they aren't for everyone, but then again neither are 45-90s, 45-100s, 45-110s, 44-77s, 44-90s, 40-70s, 45-70s and on and on.
BUT, good scores have been shot with all as well as really bad scores with all.
