buffalo arms

Post by alfajim »

Anyone know what is going on with Buffalo Arms?

Tried to sign in last night I only got a partial web page with a 404 error for the rest and could not order anything?
Tried three times no joy!

They are trying to get their new web site up and running. They'll still take orders over the phone.

As of now their site is up and running, however I had to set my account up all over again. Apparently lost all my information. I liked the old site better.

Just took a look, might be better for them but . . . . not sure it's better for me.

Also, I checked on the price of Swiss. $26.00 lb. and no indication of case lot pricing. Somebody say it isn't so. That's $650/case up from just over $500. Wow!!

Consider yourself lucky - Switzerland is MUCH closer to where I live (Belgium), and I pay 85€/kg (about 2 pounds) - which would be about 43-44$/lb...

MB, I learned long ago that no matter how bad it gets there will always be someone worse off who will point that out. I feel your pain Brother and I am grateful. For fear of being called a whiner I didn't add that we presently have an artificially devalued dollar and the current exchange rate is 32% which brings that $650 very close to $850 CDN. Now add to that the 5% GST and the 5% PST and we're at $935 or $37.50/lb. A Canadian dealer would then add the shipping and hazmat charge plus whatever profit he feels is fair and we are approaching $50/lb. At that point I am faced with some hard choices. I will be calling my friend Dave this morning to see if the new web program does not allow them to show more than one price point for an item. Hopefully that is the case.

you stay well,

Paul, I've got to more powder soon. My last case of Swiss was priced at about $45 CDN/lb.

It's a good thing this stuff is so much fun :-). For we Canadians probably we are going to have to do a little more practicing with cheaper powder, .22's, or smaller cartridges. If I look at the amount of powder I use for matches and load development, it's relatively small compared to what I use for practice. At 200 or 300 yards I can make the cheap stuff like Schuetzen FFg work pretty well in the .45-90.

Just ordered 15# 0f Swiss @ $23.40/lb. Price is up a bit. Dave will deliver it to Forsyth in June on his Quigley trip. Eliminates the ship and hazmat. :D
I've done this a couple of times in the past.

As has been said, the case lot price is still in effect and that $125 makes a big difference. They are just working on getting the info posted on the new web site. I too placed an order this morning to be delivered to the 'Q' for said reasons. Thanks to the kindness of some Montana friends I am able to store it and load while there thus saving many dollars.

Chris, a few years back we did just what you said, started shooting smaller and different calibers. Some even use that other kind of powder but we don't talk about that. When we started shooting more Buffalo matches we noticed our Black Powder consumption drop dramatically. At the time we made the choice so that we could shoot some of the other great guns we have that were just turning into safe queens, the cost saving was an extra benefit. This of course doesn't apply to someone I know that goes to the 'Q' and drops the hammer on 900+ rounds during the week, does it Kurt?

Just put the cash in the post this AM, for $486 for a case of 1 1/2 Old E. that included the shipping and the hazmat fees of $50.

Puts it at $19.44/lb

Now if I could've waited until the Q he'd have brought up for $436/case, or $17.44/lb.
This was supposed to have happened at last years Q, but as some of you know, mother nature wasn't having much of any shoot attending for us last summmer, so, I was left no choice other than to buy it now

As a matter of fact, ole mother nature left a little suprise for me this winter, bitch that she is

Paul as much I like your Country when I pass through going to Alaska I'm glad that I don't have to get my 4-5 cases of my yearly powder consumption up your way LOL.

Kurt,

Our season is so short that I think it would be impossible to go through that much up here. Then again very few of us can shoot off our back deck like you do all year round. God bless you, enjoy.
